2005-08-03 - 11:35 a.m. Man - I can't believe its already August! It seems like this summer has flown by - and I'm 100% ready to get back into the swing of things. Lets see... Since I last updated, I have been working at Sears and also for admissions. Its Iowa Private College Week, so I'm giving tours each day to prospective students. Its really hot outside, though, so that makes me HATE giving tours. But its all good. My hours at Sears have been cut this week - only 14 freaking hours. I'm hoping next week I can get like 20? I just need enough money to make it through rent + utilities... Tomorrow morning I have an interview-like meeting with a potential internship. Its with Powell Broadcasting here in Sioux City. They have a few radio stations (both AM and FM) and I think own one of the tv stations (but I'm not 100% sure on that one). I'm pretty much excited to get an internship set up for this semester. I can only take 3 credits (about 9 hours/week) because of 1) classes, 2) Sears, 3) KMSC stuff, and 4) I want some sort of life. Mostly, I need to be able to work at Sears more often now that Christmas seasson is approaching and I can make some serious $$ Today, a repairman is supposed to be coming to fix the fridge. The lady couldn't give me a specific time, which blows, so I have to have my phone with me all day long for when they call. I'll be ticked if they never call me... mr. refrigerator is leaking :( Speaking of the duplex, this morning, as I left to come to campus, I checked our mailbox. There was a HUGE spider making a web on the lip of the mailbox - YUCK. It fell to the ground... I hope it never shows its face around the duplex again. On a related note, there was this creepy bug in our place a few weeks ago that I saw - so I asked Angie to come kill it. Anyway, by the time she got there, it had "run away"... so for 3 weeks or so, its been MIA. I have NO CLUE what kind of bug it is... it has a milipede body and legs, two cricket-like legs for hopping, and SUPER LONG antenae ... I would definitely say it is about 1.5-2 inches long, and then the antenae practically double the length. Its body is zebra striped... anyway... to make this long paragraph short, I saw it on Monday afternoon crawling on the stairwell. I froze. I had to be a hero. So i went back upstairs, grabbed a shoe and kleenex... went back down and it was MISSING!!! So I freaked out - looked all over the stairwell for it. Thankfully, I found it again. It was blended into the carpet... but it didn't last long. I smashed that sucker and it squirted juices all over my shoe. YUCK. I picked it up with the kleenex and *attempted* to look at it. It was still alive (or maybe just twitching)... so I tossed it into the toilet and flushed. Now I am curious to know what kind of bug it was. Anyway... thats about it for now. Steph, I hope you enjoyed this update, since you are always on my case for not updating. LOL. Chao!
